Four Deputy Governorship candidates of political parties including
those of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, and the All Progressives
Congress, APC, on Tuesday appeared at the debate organised by the
National Election Debate Group, NEDG.
The debate, which is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, Thursday and
Friday is for deputy governorship candidates, governorship candidates
and four governorship finalists, respectively who would be selected from
the best out of the 23 governorship contenders in the state.
Speaking at the morning session which was aired live on AIT network
and scheduled to host 12 deputy governorship candidates, but attended by
only four, Dr. Nkem Okeke the running mate of the APGA candidate said
they would use their 10-point agenda to develop the state further.
He praised the efforts of the current administration, noting that it
had worked hard in the development of the state, and that they would
ensure continuity of the projects of the current administration.
The running mate of the candidate of the APC, Hon Ralph Okeke
disagreed with him, saying that there was nothing to continue with.
Okeke said his team was one that had been tested and trusted, and
that the roads built by the Ngige administration were acclaimed to be
the best in the state.
Earlier, the coordinator of NEDG, Aremu Taowo Allimi had stated that
the debate became necessary to give the contenders the opportunity to
sell their manifestos.
He said it would also afford the people the opportunity of making the right choice.
